The number one reason its not to late to find good domains is simple
There’s a lot of domains out there.
Here’s the math:
Today according to pool.com there are 56,250 domains dropping.
Over at Namejet.com there are over 7,000 names in pre-release for Networksolutions.com, Enom.com and its registrar partners. Backorder a name, if your the only one who does, you get it for $70.
At Snapnames.com there are 8,697 domains exclusive to Snapnames going, starting at $59 and up to $99 if your the only one who orders the name you get it.
At TDNAM.com there are approximately 10,000 expired domains registered by the Godaddy.com group of registrars, going at auction, starting at $10, plus registration fees.
That is 86,000 expired and dropping names TODAY.
Don’t like any of those, tomorrow there will be another set of approximately the same amount. Then the next day and the day after that. Everyday including Christmas and New Years 365 days a year. TDNAM.com has almost 115,000 expired names in the next ten days.
Our company used to go through the dropping domains list every day. 365 days a year for years and years.
Today we no longer have the time to do it (or the energy).
I know we are not alone. Many of the big domain owners stopped going through these lists a while ago.
That leaves room for you. A lot of room.

Hello,
The fact you stopped to buy from dropping services (like apparently other big names) outlines very well the domains you can find from these places are of very low value NOW.
Unfortunately when a domain is acceptable then there is so much competition that you are obligated to bid really high to get a chance to purchase it.
It’s funny you recommend the method you abandoned yourself.
What I would like to read is how you locate valuable names “NOW”.

I hoping the answer is that as your portfolio grows in value and your business grows the kinds of domains you aim for are FAR superior than what would ever appear in a drop. Just starting out, however, and with a limited budget, the reg and catch and flip is about all you can do… and so the point is that THIS practice is _still_ profitable for the noob domainers. You don’ t even have to participate in the backorder auctions to find good domains… if you limit yourself to this in the beginning, you WILL go broke.

Guys your missing the point, no one is telling you to start in the business by going into auctions and paying thousands of dollars for a name.
Quite the opposite we are saying look hard through the lists you will find names that have no other backorders or minimal bidding.
There are so many domains each day dropping or selling on the pre-release, no one can see all of them, so there is opportunity out there.
