According to Gizmodo.co.uk, Paypal wants “Paypal.Me to Become a Catchphrase”
Paypal has launched a site on Paypal.me to allows users to set up a vanity address on Paypal.me so instead of giving someone an email address to send you money you can tell them to send money to paypal.me/blogs (which is what I just set up before publishing this post).
If you already have a Paypal account it’s all ready to go today.
Clicking on the Paypal.me takes you to a signup page where you choose your username and have it auto-associated with your existing Paypal account.
Someone then visiting the domain paypal.me/yourname is then presented with a simple web page that lets them type the amount, change currencies and send it off. ”
Although Paypal has owned the domain name Paypal.me since 2008 it just updated its servers for the domain in June and rolled out this site yesterday.
It’s a natural great brand domain of a saying (or catch phrase) that people use all the time.
Lots of vanity addresses have been taken already including many I checked including domain, domains. media, worldwide, blog.

likely right up there with all the confusion when LogMe.In was attempted.
Steve says
Super.
I have lots of transactions via Paypal, and this is perfect.
Thanks — also I was able to get my name.
Bram says
Love the simplicity 🙂
Too bad you can only get one vanity name per paypal account. Found a few great ones but in the end had to choose one of them…
For whoever wants it, the handle “domainname” is still available at the time of writing this!
Bram says
The handles “Premiumdomains” and “premiumdomain” are also still available.
DNSal.es says
You can also specify the amount right in the URL. So handy:
E.g., https://www.paypal.me/domaining/100

got message…
“We’re sorry about that…
Unfortunately PayPal.Me isn’t available in your country (India)”
DNSal.es says
The company says the PayPal.Me service is launching in 18 markets, including the U.S., Germany, U.K., Australia, Canada, Russia, Turkey, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Sweden, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Austria.

I bet countries #19 & #20, had they been given access, would be Jamming the system for names relevant to the first 18, going as far as cloning new accounts to round up as many as possible.

Thanks TheDomains for the info this morning. Picked the shortest, easiest to spell/remember word available.

Yep, generics flying off the shelf. I got: events

The feeling is that PayPal is trying to make a verb out of itself. Just like Google did over the last decade. Pretty smart! One day even Oxford dictionary may contain it.
On the other hand .ME domain names are getting super hot. Unlock.Me is to be sold this Sunday on GoDaddy: https://auctions.godaddy.com/trpItemListing.aspx?&miid=40454141

Selecting a nickname apart from the actual account name can serve as Two-Step Authentication. If you share the same name as hundreds of other people like I do, there is a greater chance of a typo causing it to be sent to the wrong Bob Jones, Bobby Jones, Rob Jones. Even if your exact match name is available, picking an alternate paypal name convinces someone they’re sending it to the right you.
Jen says
Thanks! I was able to get a 5 letter word that is easy to remember and spell.

I’m the only person with my first name/last name combination and to be honest I’m not comfortable with displaying that info to everyone including Google.
I always avoid using the real name online…
Bram says
Got “arts” for my personal paypal and “almighty” for my business paypal. I’m happy 🙂
John says
Here’s a cheap pump-lol We own PleaseText.me I think we’ll be keeping it now for a while but we need a developer! It’s actually easy to see how “PayPal.me” could become a mainstream saying. Bruce Marler is proven correct again. re .me
Dk says
Please text sounds needy. Why are you keeping it?
John says
First of all because I can and secondly because it’s “Please Text Me”.We have plenty of Institutional type names like eEconomist.com among others so if we have one or two that sounds “needy” then that’s fine. Good luck.

Got “cio” for business paypal. Before lunch today, “escrow” was still available, hats off to the gentleman who claimed it by the time I returned. What a great handle! “Who should I PayPal it to?” “Escrow.”
paypal.me/cio
Dk says
Names were flying off . Some great catches. Yep, escrow is one of the better ones that are not immediately obvious.
Joe says
I got ‘hotel’ and am very happy with it 🙂
