Richard Kirkendall, CEO and founder of Namecheap.com told TheDomains.com exclusively:
“””Namecheap strongly believes that building a personal brand with a domain name and website greatly helps students in their professional endeavors.
The Goal of the program is to help every postsecondary student in US/Canada/UK to build their personal brand. Our goal is to provide this opportunity to students of all backgrounds, which is why we’re offering this bundle for free.
We are also giving 75 students on 11 campuses a Namecheap-branded bicycle through the FreeBike project.
They will act as our ambassadors and help students build their personal brand.
After the school year, the bike is donated to children in developing countries.
We are going to have a Leaderboard and the winning school, the one with the most number of signups will “own” the front page of Namecheap for a week.
We will also be giving a scholarship to the top three schools with the most registrations
During the week, we will run a fundraiser to start a scholarship for that school.
We are also attending and sponsoring about 40+ student hackathons worldwide, including MHacks, billed as “The Most Epic Hackathon Ever”, which is taking place at the University of Michigan this weekend in Ann Arbor, September 5-7
We also have a Student Developer Evangelist / Student ambassador program, where we sponsor students’ trips to college Hackathons””
Sounds like a great overall program to help college student get going with an online presence all for free.
