.Financial goes into general availability on Wednesday meaning it becomes available to be registered on a first come basis just completed it Sunrise period for trademark holders and its Early Access Program (EAP), for those who were willing to pay a one time additional fee for early access.

Reviewing the zone file so far it looks like many of the major banks, brokerage houses, financial institutions and several online poker sites, have grabbed their domain name in Sunrise but very few “generic” domains seemed to be registered in the EAP.

We know that no Sunrise period has resulted in more than a few hundred domain name registrations and many of those seem highly defenseive and well off point.

However in the .Financial sunrise I’m seeing a lot of bang on meaningful brand type registrations not just the usual brands that seem to register in every extension.

So far I’m not seeing much in the way of generic domain names being registered and on a very unscientific  basis,  having reviewed a lot of these zone files I would say this is one of the more lightly used EAP periods for registering generic domains:
