The zone file for new .GOP domain extension finally had domains added it to today and we some 1.900 domain names.

Some of the domain included are part of the 100 that each registry can register to promote or use in operation of the registry but many of the domains in the zone file are registered to Minds and Machines Limited (Ireland) even domains we obtained in landrush and almost all of the registrations have the same servers join.gop making it difficult to see which ones are owned or reserved or registered by the registry.

The only “Big Media” outlets to get a .GOP domain were owned by Dow Jones & Company, Inc:

Barrons.Gop

Wallstreetjournal.GOP

WSJ.GOP

That’s it.

There is a Politico.GOP but its registered to a Patrick Weightman of Florida.

There is the NYpost.GOP but that is owned by a Thomas Doggett of Chicago.

Mr. Doggett also registered Hannity.Gop

Bloomberg.GOP appears to have been registered by a guy who used to work for Bloomberg, LP

The only on air personality who seems to have registered their name.GOP is WolfBlitzer.GOP (actually registered to Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.)

There seems to be few political figures that have stepped up so far to grab their own .GOP

ClayAiken.GOP the former American Idol runner up is running for congress from North Carolina but he is a Democratic and the domain was reistered to a Cory Palmer of Brooklyn, New York

BarbaraBush.gop for former first lady, was registered by Grant Gonnerman of American Freedom Warriors.

Its not clear who registered these other names of Republican figures it could have been the registry:

One person talked about as a possible GOP Presidential candidate for 2016,  that didn’t get registered by the party or anyone else is JebBush.GOP the domain is not available but the whois says it is not registered, same with Bush.GOP

Apple.GOP was registered by Wesley Broadway of Bozeman Montana.  BigApple.GOP is available but priced at $1,000.

However the domain name 2020convention.GOP somehow got missed but can be bought for $250 a year.

Why the party would sell what would probably be used, or should I say hopefully be used by the party for their convention for $250, I just can’t get my head around it.
