According to a Press Release today:
Afternic’s Domain Listing Service (DLS) signed up two new registrars: German-based Key-Systems and UK-based MeshDigital which owns DomainMonster.com
Key-Systems is Europe’s second largest ICANN-accredited registrar, and a top twenty global registrar, with 1,700 worldwide resellers and more than 3,000,000 domains under management in the portals RRPproxy.net, domaindiscount24.com and brandshelter.com.
Mesh Digital is one of the world’s fastest growing registrars and has more than 500,000 domains under management through its retail sites: domainmonster.com, and reseller platform, domainbox.com.
Resellers of both Key-Systems and Mesh Digital will deploy Afternic’s “Instant Transfer” technology, allowing domain buyers the opportunity to purchase a secondary market domain in the purchase path on the registrar’s website by placing the domain in their shopping cart and having the domain in their control within minutes.
Afternic DLS helps connect domain buyers and sellers via a network incorporating more than 70 partners, including many of the world’s top registrars. Through DLS Premium Promotion, domain sellers reach tens of millions of prospective domain buyers monthly.
“The inclusion of Key-Systems and Mesh Digital registrars in the DLS support Afternic’s commitment to expansion of our European presence. We have seen that the growth of the DLS is driving a vast increase in demand for premium domains: our year-over-year sales for the first half of 2011 are up 94%. This increased demand, coupled with Afternic’s Instant Transfer capabilities, make premium domains more accessible and appealing to business users,” said Jason Miner, NameMedia Senior Vice President and Afternic General Manager. “By connecting prospective buyers with the broadest possible inventory of great domains, we will better meet their needs and improve the chances for domain sellers to find a buyer for their domains.”

BOOM! Referenceville.com sells for $125,000.
MHB says
Where did it sell?
Louise says
@ MHB, It’s all the same person: Motorogle, Together.tv, Referenceville. He said on one comment, he turned down $80,000 for Together.tv.
John Berryhill said I’m paranoid. That may be, and I think there are some delusional people on here as well.
Troy says
Not related to your post but I thought I’d bring up the idea that it may be time for another Google vs. Gold update=)
Google: $505
Gold: $1824

Troy was thinking the same thing
Ellen O'Brien says
DLS is adding partners every month—Key Systems and Mesh Digital just signed on. In less than a year the number of DLS partners has doubled. While we cannot comment on what specific partnerships may be announced, we can say that we anticipate many exciting developments before the end of the year.
Attn: Louise says
@Louise,
I know the guy who owns together.tv. He did turn down $80K for this domain and he DOES NOT own referenceville.com – you should get your facts straight before throwing around accusations.
Louise says
Oh, it’s Gaetano. I’m sorry – I thought you and the Big Cheese were one and the same! You’re two separate people.
However, someone spouts off Referenceville.com was sold for $125,000, when the creation date shows August 18th, 2011. That’s delusional, and it’s saying it kindly. No Google listing, no DomainTools history, a creation date on the WhosIs of: 18-aug-2011.

That’s great that they’re getting more registrar partners and offering more exposure to higher quality domains. That helps the whole industry and more importantly helps businesses and entrepreneurs find and buy better domains.
That said, I wish they would work on completing speedier transactions. If once payment has been received the seller is expedient in communicating, providing necessary info etc., escrow should be just as expedient for the buyer’s sake. Almost all of our recent DLS sales have been through BuyDomains or their partner registrars, and in every single case the domain is pushed to their escrow account at the registrar the domain is located, but it takes them 2-3 working days to even share that information with us the seller so we can do our part in facilitating a speedy transaction.

I went back and looked and the original post was dated 9.23.10 so we have to wait another month
Of course if you want to make another prediction….
Meyer says
“but it takes them 2-3 working days to even share that information with us the seller”
Are you saying that DLS does not notify you immediately once they sell and push one of your domains?
I can’t believe that is the case. If so, that is putting you in a dangerous legal position if you accept a direct offer or an offer through Sedo.
Steve Jones says
“Are you saying that DLS does not notify you immediately once they sell and push one of your domains?”
In these cases they don’t auto-push your domains…I realized GoDaddy isn’t a “partner registrar” on the level of Enom of Moniker although Afternic does list their lower promo level domains in GoDaddy auctions.
What I was saying is that when a name sells through BuyDomains, GoDaddy or other registrars at the lower promo level, when Afternic notifies you of sale, payment is in and approved already and in most cases they would simply receive a push of the domain to their escrow team. However, in recent sales it had taken them 2-3 working days to provide their account information for us to complete the push, basically needlessly adding days of delay onto a transaction. In cases when it’s a GoDaddy domain and push needs to be confirmed as well, they’ve had the same 2-3 day delay in confirming the push as well, so we’ve had transactions take a week longer than they needed to. Sedo isn’t perfect either but this is one sort of delay they almost never have.
That said, if you call Afternic they can be quicker on things, but it shouldn’t need to come to that. My concern with this is mostly about the buyer getting what they paid for as quickly as possible. More fluid domain transactions means better buyer experience means more recommendations to other potential buyers.
Rebecca Clifford says
@Steve Jones: I apologize that you may have experienced some delays in the past with the transfer times of sold domains, but we do have certain holds in place as to ensure that both our buyers and sellers are protected and that all transaction are valid. As you experienced with today’s transaction, it entered escrow yesterday afternoon and I worked with you to fully complete the transaction and get your funds disbursed to you today. The turnaround time on that transaction was under 24 hours. We are working to make the process faster and smoother for all parties involved and with more partners on DLS Premium, and more customers moving towards DLS Premium we are able to eliminate the delay in turnarounds and have a seemless automated process.
Steve Jones says
@Rebecca: First off, I do really appreciate you expediting things today and was going to come back to this thread and comment about it once the busy morning/afternoon died down.
I’m also glad to hear that you are working on making things a smoother faster process. I have enjoyed seeing the sales increases Afternic has made over this past year and believe that right now you are the better marketplace to sell through between you and Sedo. I hope the progress continues!
Thanks for the comment here and thanks again for your commitment to pushing the transaction through. I’m sure the buyer appreciates it as well.
RH says
I can’t agree with you on Afternic being the better place Steve. The communication I have dealt with this year has been lousy.
Comments like “We have 3million domains for sale, you expect us to call you ?”
They asked for a price I gave them the price, never told me what the buyer offered had to call and have my rep go through notes to say “oh it wasn’t in your range and he told us to go F our self.”
Second name and this was crazy IMO, get email request for a price on a domain a 3 letter .tv. I give the floor and buy it now. I tell my rep this name gets a lot of offers direct so make sure you let me know what they offer for the domain. A week goes by and I get an offer from SEDO, I let my rep know and he says “If you get your price there sell it there” I am like wait you are talking to a prospect and you have had a back and forth with them, they will be upset I would imagine.” The offer at SEDO was a lowball, I countered back way high, my rep at Afternic tells me prospect from Romania, weeks go by no update, I call “Oh yeah they are not going to buy” The level of communication was just not good on either of these two transactions.
The other disadvantage I found was that on the first transaction, the buyer offered $650. Now that was way below but maybe in negotiating with him directly I could have got him up to a certain level where I would have sold the name. I think you never know what the Afternic rep is saying to your prospect and that simply does not work for me in trying to sell the domain.
Steve Jones says
@RH I have to admit I’ve never had anything like the communication issues you’re talking about with Afternic. With Sedo in the past I’ve encountered brokers who were very non-communicative and I felt like I had to ask them if they were touching base with the buyer to pay or help them if needed because otherwise I had no clue if they were and nothing was happening. In recent transactions there I admit things have improved, but they still sometimes take 2-3 working days after confirming receipt of the domain to send payment out whereas Afternic has always been same-day on that.
My concern with Sedo lately however had been less about their service and more about the god awful interface they had before they just recently changed it. What they have now is better thankfully, but everyone was crying out about their previous interface with bizarre navigation and it took them years to change it. Meanwhile Afternic far and away captured the lead between the two in sales of our names, so they’ve been doing things right on what matters most I think – making more sales happen.
