Our Nominations For TRAFFIC Award For Domainer Of The Year

August 3, 2011 by Michael Berkens

Its that time again when TRAFFIC has opened up nomination for its annual awards to be presented at the TRAFFIC 2011 Ft. Lauderdale show to be held from October 16th-19th.

You can now nominate people for several awards but as we have done in the past we have some of our own nominations.

(Get your votes in because nominations close at Friday August 5th 2011 at 6PM )

Having said that, we understand that a lot of people fly under the radar, so in many ways we are somewhat restricted to those who make there success and moves public.

As we don’t like to repeat our picks you can check our past years selections here and here feel free to choose from any of those as well.

Last year we themed our nomination’s on those in the domain industry who were not domainers but made a huge impact on the domain industry for the Hall Of Fame Award.

This year our picks are for Domainer of the year, and we focused in on some who are trying to disrupt the domain industry in a good way by changing things up, with that in mind here are our picks for Domainer of the Year:

Frank Schilling.

Yes I think you have heard that name before, but this year Frank makes the list for launching  InternetTraffic.com and arguably turning the whole domain parking business on its head.

Since rolling out InternetTraffic.com just in the middle of May, the program is already monetizing over 1.5 million domain names and well over 100 clients.

Returns from InternetTraffic.com have been reported to be higher than previous parking partners for a lot of domainers and Frank is really working hard to invest in technology to improve the system.

Its a domainer run parking company for quality domains.

Frank is the only domainer on the planet that could have gotten this deal done and after years of declines many domainers are finally seeing increases in parking revenue, which hopefully will force other parking companies to get more competitive with their returns.

John Ferber

John launched with another industry veteran Chad Folkening, DomainHoldings.com a company that seeks to monetize domains using a combination of traditional parking with CPA and other models and to develop websites.

You can  select either John or Chad for this spot but since John appeared on National TV show on Secret Millionaire we gave him the nod.

DomainHoldings.com is building out some prime properties for other big name domainers as well and is becoming a disruptive force in the domain industry and just raised $2.9 million in VC money to grow the company and also recently launched DomainPower.com

If you have another selection please comment below.

Hands down it’s Frank. That’s not even debatable, is it?

DomainPower is great to have as a new force, but nothing, I mean nothing, has had the impact that InternetTraffic has had in the last five years or longer.

My parking earnings, going on three months now with Frank, are up a full 180% over ANY other parking company, Sedo, Parked, DomainSponsor, DomainAdvertising, Fabulous, you name it.

It’s my opinion they have all colluded to keep our earnings down for years at their gain and our expense. Frank just blew them to smithereens and showed how ALL the other parking companies can’t be trusted.

If Frank Schilling does not win this time then it would just be a ridiculous award. There is NO competition to what he has done in the industry this year.

Truthfully, nobody has done anything remotely as significant in the industry ever. He saved the industry all by himself.

    Thanks Frank!

I agree, it should be Frank…Not only has he single handly lifted the covers and exposed what these parking companies have been doing for years but he is also very open with his knowledge how to make money in this business for folks just starting out…Cheers to Frank!! You deserve it!!

Michael and David Castello are class acts, they should be considered as well. Great reputation within the industry.

I agree that Frank is the top pick.

Frank has done more openly and behind the scenes than any other domainer this year.

Traffic should create an “Overpriced Domain of the Year” award yet. Would be a good category to consider. There is constant demand for overpriced domains. There you go.
