What’s better than a million dollars, a billion dollars; so the line from the move goes, or it you prefer line from A song “I want to be a billionaire”
Well Sedo just brokered the domain name Billionaire.com for a lot less than that $215,000 to be exact.
The broker on behalf of Sedo was Frank Alello.
The Buyer is under privacy and so is the Seller.
The domain seems to have switched hands twice recently once back in early 2010 and once in late 2010.
Its a highly brandable domain I think for either luxury goods, social networking or for say a company that wants to service that group of people.
According to the Forbes 2011 list there are 1,210 billionaires in the world.
I am not one.
Congrats to the Buyer, Seller and Broker on a nice sale

No billionaire is going to want to be serviced by a company called “billionaire.com”. In my view this name is ideally suited a “how to make money” type site, or perhaps some kind of brand like fashion, bling necklaces etc. The market is people who have fantasies about being rich in my view.

How far away are you from half a billion?

You guys are all obviously out of the loop. These guys are the ones that bought it:

I can tell you all spend too much time in your mom’s basement in your underwear. You all need to start getting out more and start ‘poppin’ more champagne like the big dog domainers do….

It will cost $185,000 to apply for a new extension, with an annual $25,000 fee per year after that to keep it going. The process to approve a new extension can take up to 8 months.
Besides the fact that .COM is heavily entrenched as the #1 extension for domain names, buying this for $215,000 plus annual renewal fees of around $15 is a much better deal.

“I can buy Billionaire.com because I am a billionaire.” Maybe it’s really one of the billionaires that bought it. Maybe a few of them played a game and the winner (or loser) had to buy the domain 🙂 Let’s see how the development goes.

If dollar keeps going down, everybody will be billionaire
If dollar dies, the new rich will be millionaires (in gold or other)
So domain has short life span.
Congrats to seller and to Frank

Looks like they just launched — pretty slick looking site. I received the following email last week:
“Awfully sorry to intrude, but may we be so bold as to suggest you take a moment to peruse a splendid new website that launched this morning? Introducing Billionaire.com — your tailored, go-anywhere guide to living well and doing good. Blending editorial on all manner of elegant lifestyle, luxury goods and services, with thought-provoking explorations of matters of conscience and social consciousness, it’s “The good life. A good life.” Now live. And rather marvellous.”
The domain is still privacy protected, but the privacy policy lists the site as being owned and/or operated by “HighEnd Pte. Ltd”. The co-founder/chairman of Swiftrank/Travelshark lists himself as chairman of HighEnd, per his LinkedIn profile.
