February 16, 2011 by Michael Berkens

According to a post on Parked.com’s Forum made today by the President of Parked.com:

“co, .tv, and .nz cctlds are now allowed to be monetized via Yahoo/Bing”

“As of Monday, February 14, 2011, the .co, .tv, and .nz cctlds can now be monetized by Yahoo/Bing. If you already had domains in one of these cctlds in your account we are automically sending them to Yahoo/Bing by default. If you have domains at other providers we can now accept these going forward.””

“””Also we have been told that .xxx has also been approved to be a monetizable extension when it’s available.””

Parked seems to be in a rebound stage. I have seen many improvements in the past 3 days that is another indication they have made significant changes to their feed.

    Hello Mike,

We are at a loss as to the reaction of the domaining communities reluctance to stare in the face the consequences of Google s new Content Farm Browser. We respect your opinion Mike, so In your opinion Mike what do you see as the resulting ramifications of this latest line drawn in the sand ?

Gratefully, Jeff Schneider (Contact Group) (Metal Tiger)

    Jeff

My reaction is that Google is pretty smart and if you try to fool it to get ranked high or get a better PR rating it will only work for so long.

If you have a real site, with original unique content that people find valuable in that they visit the site for the material and have a great matching domain and do a little SEO work then the site will get ranked by Google.

Of course no one admits that they are a content farm, so it should effect anyone

Jeff why did you ask, what are you using that concerns you

I’m not so sure that domaining and content farms have much in common. After all, almost all parked domains have been scrubbed from the engines a long time ago (of course a few still get through).

I’ve learned to live without any search engine traffic. 98% of my traffic is type-in anyhow, so I don’t need them to “make it”.

Regarding Parked, congrat’s, one small win for you against Bing.

I simply hope Parked leaves Bing.com when their contract expires and does their own thing. It’s time for them/us to stop being beholden to the powers that be.

Leaves Bing and goes where? Quite a situation we have in ad network land.

are you talking about websites or direct navigation/domains?

That is great news for .tv. Many of mine get 50-100 type-ins a day. @Michael, did the person who offered you $125,000 for D.tv come back with a higher price?
I know you stated publicly you rejected that offer.

    Jim

    They did not

That’s huge, Y!/Bing – up to their usual antics until they realized how much cash they’re leaving on the table w/ parking deals. The pretty much hate dealing w/ traffic quality and they’re just afraid these new extensions will overlap w/ these players.
