Good list. Pens.co was the cheap one for me here. Could have gone for at least double that. You can’t go wrong with a category killer. Thought MyHealth.co went quite high.
Jim says
Quite big figures here. We can’t deny that .CO launch was very successful. And there are not the “XXX” auctions.
The 500,000 registrations line will also be easily attained by the end of september.
Jim says
Travels.co for $2,830 was the cheap one for me.
Matt says
Looks like for information of some great progress in the .Co era. Best of luck to everyone that registered.

a few shot prices don’t mean a big and long term business

Over 1.1 mln USD in .co landrush auctions:

Nom de domaine says
Dunno where are “the good buys” you mentioned, even fantasyfootball.co imo. Its still a .co 😀
Anyway, thanks for the report !!!
Jim says
Nom de domaine -> Coming from a forum which has lauded .tel, such a remark is truly laughable.
By the way, the only credit we can give to .com is its seniority. Per se, .co is superior to .com.
Com means commercial, co means company. Company has never been shorted in Com, in the USA at least.
Jim says
The anxiety of big .com owners becomes more and more palpable. Most .co detractors are the same who have invested a lot in .com (no surprise here…)
I don’t think .co represents a big menace for them now… but the ICANN surely does.
They are planning to launch hundreds of new TLDs in the coming years, thus making some old TLDs such as .net pratically obsolete.
Some think that the more and more TLDs come, the more it strengthens .COM. Not sure about this… quite the opposite. .COM had its years of glory, no it is the time to retire.
Slate says
Have you seen the list of new possible TLDs? They are horrible!
I would NOT touch any that I have seen on the list with YOUR MONEY, let alone mine!!!
In my opinion, the only recent TLD to come to market that can have any bearing on things is the .CO extension.
**IT STILL HAS A LOT TO PROVE** but it has the potential to actually do something. For now its still a speculation extension but possibly has the greatest potential.
As far as being SUPERIOR to .COM… Not yet. Maybe in several years after companies really begin to back it up with capital but as of right now… No!
Just the way I see it.
Cheers

A bit of trivia… ICANN was once called NEWCO

and http://New.Net continues to compete for marketshare…

::: could BreakingNewsBlog.us become a record selling .us domain??? ::: says
$1.1 million of registered .co sold… $15 million paid to register all the other .co
really a big big business!!! 🙂
MHB says
Yup and some of the new domain extension registrars will make a killing
Robert Cline says
My god I am rich.
Jim says
Robert Cline -> I appreciate your enthusiasm about .CO, as I myself think it is the best extension to have come in years, but for now the aftermarket has still to show up. We are only 1 month and 10 days after the launch.
When domainers will make big sales, notably to end-users, we’ll know the real value of .CO.
I am pretty optimistic about it given the high rate of registrations.
::: could BreakingNewsBlog.us become a record selling .us domain??? ::: says
“$1.1 million of registered .co sold… $15 million paid to register all the other .co”
have you realized, that, the ENTIRE .co market, so far, is the SAME of the insure.com selling alone??? 🙂
Robert Cline says
Well, the truth of the matter is a lot of the old money from the .COMs is now being funneled into the .CO s Case in point, one person here was advertising he wanted to trade his .COMs for some .CO s
The bottomline is .COM prices will have to come down and .CO prices will move up where it reaches an equalibrium. Seriously, does anyone think insure.com is worth $15Million, 10x all these great .CO s.
The king’s robe is now off.
The truth is there is tremendous value right now in the .CO s.
::: could BreakingNewsBlog.us become a record selling .us domain??? ::: says
the price always IS the value of a thing
Tom C says
FYI, insure.CO is currently at $57,000
Good to see more .CO’s with solid sales numbers. Also looks like the LLL.CO’s are starting to establishing a fairly decent market with purchases showing up in every auction.
Tom C says
Sorry, that should have read “with each set of auction results”, not “in every auction”.
Good luck to all!
