The Ireland Post: Bad Economy Good For Ecommerce

November 2, 2008 by Michael Berkens

According to ThePost.ie, an publication located in Ireland,  the bad economy will cause people to look to the net for an increased amount of purchases in an attempt to reduce costs.

“””””The smart company preparing for an extended downturn should think of investing in a proper website now. “When people are looking for cheaper products or services, whether it is airline flights or lawnmowers, they are going to go online,” said Martin Casey, managing director of web design and internet consultancy firm Arekibo.

“”””When things are tighter and they have less money in their pockets, they are going to start looking more and more online to get the best deal.”…””nowadays most customers look to the internet first when considering any kind of purchase, therefore companies should ensure they present the best possible online image.”””

Nice little report by the Irish…but kinda overdue… This phenomenon has been happening for a while now, at least in the USA. Maybe over there it is different… It’s all good. Consumer scores… We score… Sucks for the retailers who have been in business for years but have not made the change yet or accepted reality that the internet is the future.

    Survival of the fittest.
