Dubai Company Buying Domains

September 15, 2008 by Michael Berkens

According to a press release a Dubai based online media company has expansion plans, including expanding its portfolio of domain names by domain portfolio acquisitions.

AhuraOnline say the release, is an online media company that operates thousands of generic domain names that generate millions of hits per month.

Sohail Roshni, director of the company says “We are in the business of buying and monetizing Internet domain names. Ahura’s core business is developing verticals such as miamitravel.com and americanestate.com and creating value when consumers and online advertisers connect. Every month millions of visitors search IndianDomain’s network of domain names.

AhuraOnline plans to selectively acquire premium domains portfolios that can be developed into niche media properties.

Thanks for the post – this is an opportunity for domain name owners to sell their domains and cash in.

So what do we make of this? I’m sort of interested because if “miamitravel.com” and “americanestate.com” are the gems of their “thousands of domains” portfolio then I have a portfolio myself that they would be interested in.

I suppose I’d be interested if I thought they were paying a fair price but after checking out “miamitravel.com”, et al – if those sites are their idea of “developing verticals” then I don’t think that development can get them enough money to be able to afford my portfolio. Which indicates (to me) that they wouldn’t be offering a whole lot per “premium” domain.

I’ve noticed a few “I’m buying geo/generic premium domains” solicitations lately and I always wonder what the prices that they would pay are? Suppose my domain portfolio included the likes of “SeattleHomeSales.com” and “SacramentoLawyers.com” (I don’t own and know nothing about those particular domains)? I consider either of those to be $1000 domains (at a minimum- am I out of line in thinking that?) – are they companies/people who want to buy ready to pay $100,000 for my portfolio of 100 domains like that?

Anyway, I’m just wondering if there is any special significance to the post and/or if anyone has any experiences in replying to these solicitations with a portfolio of any real quality?

    IRAQSOLAR.COM
    MOROCCOSOLAR.COM

This is good news for the domain industry.
Stir up the pot and more recognizability.

Pretty soon, they will be like the Domain OPEC.

Any PR for the domain industry is good.

It’s been a month and no reply from these guys. Maybe country solar domains and downtowndubai.com don’t fit their needs, (or are they fishing for domains for reverse hijacking efforts?)
