Skenzo Switches to Yahoo

February 28, 2008 by Michael Berkens

In a e-mail sent to it customers, Skenzo said today, that they were switching their parked page PPC advertising program to Yahoo effective tommorow.

Here is a copy of the e-mail:

Dear Skenzo Customer

We are excited to inform you that we have recently negotiated a direct deal with Yahoo for facilitating PPC ads on our parked pages. Over the last 4 months we have been working behind the scenes on a deal that will allow us to continue maximizing the monetization opportunity for our Customers. We are pleased to announce a very strong partnership with Yahoo that we will be fully enabling starting tomorrow i.e. 29th Feb 2008.

Note that we will continue to use our superior proprietary optimization technology to determine the templates and keywords that are mapped to your domains. Your pages will continue to look and function in the exact the same manner. The only change is that we will now be displaying Yahoo ads on the parking pages.

While there has been a perpetual debate in the industry with respect to Yahoo vs Google, we have performed extensive tests before deciding to partner with Yahoo. Due to the numerous advantages that we will be able to leverage, we are certain that we will be able to make more money for most customers as compared to any alternate solutions.

We have just completed our integration, and we do expect some initial stumbling blocks in the migration process due to the volume of our traffic. However, we can say with conviction that Skenzo will continue to remain the premier destination for monetizing Domain Traffic as it always has, and we will continue to beat competition by significant margins over the coming months.

Mike (and other readers)–having never used Skenzo myself; and considering your own PPC experience, do you have any thoughts on this development? A good move; or a mistake?

Skenzo was one of the parking companies that got hit hard with the ask.com syndication deal getting pulled from them because of Google.

There are very smart people working at Skenzo and I am sure they tested a straight Google feed that was available to them, without Ask.com, and a Yahoo feed and they probably got better results with the Straight Yahoo feed.

Now do I think Skenzo will do better with a straight Yahoo feed than they did with the ask.com and Google combination, no I don’t.

Guess we will see in the next few days for sure.

honestly, I was shocked when I got the mail.
I always thought nothing will change any more between the big3. But this really might have an impact.
Skenzo ppl are really smart, I am sure they can keep the quality and maybe improve.
If Yahoo will be able to serve them with enough ads it will be fine.

    Freddy

Skenzo’s unique position with ask.com and Google gave them a competitive advantage over other Google partners.

This ask.com deal has been known to be dead for about a month. There have been article written about it.

Insiders have known for a couple of months.

In any event as a Yahoo partner it’s a whole new ballgame and we will see how they perform, but in general we do not think it is positive development for domainers.
